Sunday School Teachers

ATTENTION ALL SUNDAY SCHOOL TEACHERS:There are four teacher's guides for each class. Please feel free to take the teacher's guide home with you the week prior to your class but do return it back to the class room. If you feel you do not need to take a book home, let Dan Kovacevic know so that another teacher can use it. Also, be aware that the same teacher's guides are used every 2 years. If we take care of them, we will only need to order children's activity books in the future.

Deuteronomy 6:4-7 - "4 Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one. 5 You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. 6 And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. 7 You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise."

Sunday School Format Change

Starting the first Sunday in November, there will be a format change for the Sunday School children ages 4, 5, K through 4th-6th grade so they can practice for a Christmas Program. All children will start Sunday School with their teachers in their classrooms at 10:00. Teachers will greet their children and take attendance until 10:10. All teachers will then escort their class to the fellowship hall to practice for the Christmas program. We are asking that the teachers stay with the children during the practice. Immediately following the practice, teachers will escort their children back to the Sunday school wing and teach their normal lessons. Thanks are extended to Debbie Capper and Tracy Csaky for taking on this responsibility.

Letter from VLBF Leadership Team 7/12

Dear Friends,

As a church, we have experienced a major conflict with our former pastor, Steve Andrews. Using the principles of reconciliation as outlined in Scripture, the Leadership Team had the opportunity to work with three volunteer conciliators who have been trained through Peacemaker Ministries and to take the steps to reconcile with both Steve and Julie Andrews. We have learned much about living out Matthew 18:15-17 as well as better communication and Biblical peacemaking principles. We, the Leadership Team, Steve, and Julie collectively, have also learned how to grow to be more like Christ through confession, repentance, and forgiveness.

Steve and Julie Andrews have voluntarily worked very hard with two of the conciliators for the past six months. They have recognized areas of sin in which they have wounded individuals and the congregation as a whole. They have met with the Leadership Team members both individually and as a whole to confess and be reconciled. The Leadership Team, individually and collectively, has forgiven Steve and Julie of those sins and has reconciled their relationships with Steve and Julie. At this time, Steve and Julie, with the Leadership Team’s full support, would like to speak to the congregation at Vesper Lake Bible Fellowship to humbly confess their sin so that there may be healing through confession, repentance, and forgiveness.

The Leadership Team, likewise, has worked diligently over the past six months with the conciliators in Biblical peacemaking principles. We have recognized areas of sin in which we have also wounded individuals and the congregation as a whole. We have met with Steve and Julie both individually and as a whole to confess and be reconciled. The Leadership Team will also take this opportunity to confess sin that the Lord has revealed to them.

We praise God for what has taken place in each of our lives as well as Steve and Julie’s lives. We encourage you to join us on Sunday, July 19, 2009, during our morning worship service to see God glorified through this time of confession, repentance, and forgiveness as an act of worship.

VLBF Leadership Team,

  • Jim Burkett
  • Zoltan Csepe
  • Joe DiRocco
  • Brad Horner
  • Jacob Kroslak
  • Mike Maletich

VLBF Quarterly Planning Meetings 6/1

In an effort to be more effective and efficient in our communication as a church, we will be having quarterly planning meetings.
The goal of the meetings includes:
  • Create a calendar that would provide a form of consistency and accountability for VLBF
  • Unite the ministries of our church
  • Become a more inclusive church for newcomers
  • Encourage the various ministry leaders
  • Involve the elders and other lay leadership of the church in clear, purposeful goal setting regarding programming
  • Reduce time spent on programming for the leadership team
  • Communicate more effectively and efficiently to the elders, volunteers, and congregation

The meetings will be planned two months prior to the new quarter; which means that the first meeting will be in August to plan for the fall quarter- October, November, December.

We would like each of you- ministry heads of VLBF to come prepared with a three month calendar for your ministry, including tentative event and meeting dates, times, deadlines, location, goals and objectives, and any other pertinent information regarding your ministry for those three months. In addition, the Leadership Team representative will come prepared with sermons, speakers, evening service schedule, member's meetings, and any special initiatives.

It is important for every ministry to have at least one representative at each planning meeting.

The various ministries are:
  • Music- Brian and Jonelle Emich/Jerry Emich
  • Sunday School- Dan Kavocevic
  • Word of Life- Mike/Nanette Maletich
  • Missions- Jacob/Susan Kroslak

  • Women's Ministry- Suzi Hrubik/Nanette Maletich
  • Prayer Ministry- Jacob Kroslak
  • Adult Fellowship- Jerry/Patty Emich
  • Leadership Team
  • MOMs group- Deb Capper

In addition, Sarah will bring a completed "annual events" calendar for things such as the pig roast, camp, etc. (but please do not assume any event pertaining to your individual ministry as "annual". Please place it on your calendar).

Sarah will facilitate the meetings, schedule and plan them, and be responsible for follow up initiatives and the master calendar, which you will receive accessibility to after the first meeting.
Proposed dates for the meeting are:
  • Saturday AM- August 8th
  • Sunday, after church- August 9th
  • Saturday AM- August 15th
  • Sunday, after church- August 16th
  • Saturday AM- August 29th

If you have any questions regarding meeting specifics, please contact Sarah at the church.
Thank you all for your willingness to serve!
The VLBF Leadership Team

Teen Mom Needs Help 5/26

I was informed that one of our teen moms is really struggling with money problems right now. She's 17 years old and 32 weeks pregnant. She recently got married to the father of her baby and although he has a job at Taco Bell they're really struggling to make ends meet. They have no food... they're car is having mechanical problems and I'm sure they're having a tough time paying bills etc. If you could just send this to everyone you know... maybe someone would be called to give to this young family. If they are you can just put them in contact with me and I'll meet them or do whatever is necessary to get the items to the teens. Any help of any kind whether it be money, gift cards, food, help with their car troubles... anything would be such a big help and blessing to them. Thank you so much and I'll be praying this touches someones heart in some way or another.Rachael StoneTeen Moms coordinator(330) 352-2398

Also, if you participate in other Sunday morning tasks, remember that we send the enter schedule out together and we won't over schedule you tasks on a Sunday. The more people who volunteer to greet, the less time people will be scheduled to greet. All you need to do to greet is to show up @ 9:45am and pass out bulletins that are already prepared and welcome everyone in. Please respond to this email or call me within the next week to let me know when to not schedule you. Thank you,

Letter from Harry See 4/8

“I almost thank our God on every remembrance of you.” (Phil. 1: 3)?How could I miss quote my life verse? As resurrection Sunday approaches I am sending you this message to be an encouragement to us all and allow God's Holy Spirit to lead us all up to the altar of sacrifice so we may be reconciled with our Creator and Savior and our fellow brothers and sisters.

Since the beginning of the year I haven't been able to fellowship with you as much as I would have liked. I greatly miss our time together. I miss talking with you directly but I heard through the grape vine that some of you have had something against your brothers on the leadership team; either not liking the way things were done or the way things were explained and have come to seek out another fellowship.

As your brother in Christ and the father of four children it is extremely difficult for me to explain to my children why you've left. I've been asked "Don't they believe in Jesus anymore?” or “Don't they like our church?”. Jesus said, “But I tell you that anyone who is angry with his brother will be subject to judgment…Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to your brother; then come and offer your gift.” (Matt. 5: 22-24) and “In the same way, let your life shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your father in heaven”. (Matt. 5:16)

This is the week of Good Friday. Satan is having a party over things that should never divide us. The believers are treating people they work with better then there brothers and sisters in Christ. I'm praying for you on a continual basis. This Friday and Sunday we come together to worship God our Savior. By our actions we tell who we serve. You have to serve somebody, who will it be?

With Christian love,

Harry See

“I thank our God on every remembrance of you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” Phil. 1: 3-6

Member's Meeting - Water Vote

At the members meeting on Feb. 1, we will be voting on the expenditure to tie in to the City water main. This is above a $3,000 cost and was not included in the annual budget that was presented in October. We have just received some final costs and approvals and are ready to present all the information to the members. We did not want to wait two (or more) weeks to have a vote because we are still paying for temporary water, so we would like to vote at this already-scheduled member's meeting.

We will present the options that we looked at, the estimated costs of each, and the reasons why we are recommending to tie in to the City water main.

If you have any questions, please let me know. Thanks. Travis

Midwest Camp Meeting

Last night's Midwest camp meeting went very well. Three ideas were proposed for the theme. The decision was made to spend a week in prayer over what was presented and meet again NEXT WEDNESDAY, January 14th at 8:15 p.m. to finalize details and vote on the theme for this year's camp. If you were unable to make it to last night's meeting and are interested in voting on the theme next week, there will be notes from each of the presenters on the table in the foyer this Sunday. Please pick up a copy and pray over direction in preparation for the meeting. If you have a theme or any ideas to add, please talk with Jerry Emich Jr. before Sunday. There are also many opportunities to volunteer this year. We are overseeing adult classes, adult forums, evening services, general assembly, adult evening worship, morning devotions, auditorium stage management, fellowship time in the "Hub", and registration. If you are interested in volunteering in any of these areas, please contact Jerry.

In any case, join us in prayer as we begin the process of planning for this year's Midwest camp!
